Thank You for Your Service, Anna Mae Robertson
Today, I want to take a moment to recognize someone whose quiet strength and lifelong dedication have left an undeniable mark—Anna Mae Robertson.
She may not be a household name, but her legacy is one that has shaped how I see the world. And honestly, without her, I probably wouldn’t appreciate the military or the mail delivery system as much as I do today.
Service in Uniform
Anna Mae Robertson served her country in the military—a role that demands courage, discipline, and sacrifice. As a Black woman in uniform, she had to navigate not only the weight of service but also the challenges of doing so in spaces that weren’t always welcoming.
She showed up anyway. With grace. With purpose. With strength.
Her service reminds me that the military isn’t just about battles or medals—it’s about the people who commit their lives to something bigger than themselves. People like Anna Mae, who gave her time, her energy, and a piece of her heart to protect and uplift others.
Because of her, I see the uniform differently. I see the person inside it—the one who stood tall so others could stand free.
Delivering More Than Mail
After the military, Anna Mae continued serving her community through the U.S. Postal Service. To many, delivering mail might seem like just another job. But anyone who’s waited on a letter, a check, or a package from a loved one knows how much that delivery matters.
Anna Mae wasn’t just handing off envelopes—she was helping people stay connected. Through rain, heat, and long routes, she showed up. Her work was steady and dependable, the kind of presence that builds trust in a neighborhood.
Because of her, I no longer take the daily mail for granted. I see the care, the pride, and the consistency it takes to do that job well.
In Deep Gratitude
So thank you, Anna Mae Robertson.
Thank you for showing up—for your country, for your community, and for all of us who’ve benefitted from your dedication.
You didn’t have to serve in the ways you did, but you did it anyway—with resilience and humility.
Your story reminds me to value the everyday heroes, the ones whose names might not be in history books, but who’ve shaped lives through their example.
Thank you for your service…
